Safeguarding Policy
Qurania teaches children. Everything on this page exists for one reason: so that every parent can leave their child in a lesson with complete peace of mind. Last updated: 22 August 2026.
1. Who teaches your child
- Certified. Every Qari holds formal certification in Quran recitation and tajweed, with documented Ijazah lineage where applicable.
- Vetted. Every Qari passes identity verification and a criminal background check before their first lesson with any child — no exceptions, including Qaris referred by existing families.
- Trained. Every Qari completes Qurania's child-safeguarding and child-teaching training: appropriate language, appropriate topics, appropriate boundaries — and what to do if a child discloses something worrying.
- Known to you. Before the first lesson you receive your Qari's full name, photo, certification details, and teaching experience. The person on screen is never a stranger.
2. How lessons are conducted
- You are always welcome. Parents may observe any lesson, any time, without notice. Many sit within sight of the screen; some join for part of the lesson. Nothing about your child's learning happens out of your sight.
- Video calls only through approved tools. Lessons run on mainstream video platforms with your consent. Qaris never contact children on personal accounts, never message a child privately outside scheduled lessons, and never request contact details from a child.
- Parent is the channel. All scheduling, changes, and administrative communication go to the parent, not the child.
- Camera and conduct standards. Lessons are between one Qari and one student, on camera, during agreed times only. A Qari alone with a camera-off child ends the exercise and contacts the parent.
3. What we expect of families
- A parent or guardian enrolls the child and remains the contact of record.
- An adult is reachable at home during lessons, even if not in the room.
- Please tell us promptly about anything that concerns you — small things included.
4. If something goes wrong
Report anything — a remark, a boundary, a feeling — to safeguarding@qurania.io, which reaches the founder directly, or raise it in your family WhatsApp thread marked for the founder's attention. We commit to:
- Acknowledge within 24 hours, investigate immediately, and keep you informed throughout.
- Suspend the Qari from all teaching while any safeguarding concern is investigated.
- Remove permanently any Qari who breached a boundary — regardless of teaching talent or staffing cost.
- Support external reporting: where conduct may be illegal in your country, we will support you in contacting local authorities, and we will comply fully with their requests.
5. Online safety
No recordings of children are made or stored by Qurania unless a parent explicitly asks for one (for example, to celebrate a milestone). Screenshots by Qaris are prohibited except with parental consent. Any technical failure that exposes your family beyond the lesson (wrong participant admitted, call not terminating) must be reported to us, and we will report it to you.
6. Reviewing this policy
This policy is reviewed at least annually and after every incident, however minor. Families enrolled at the time of any material change are notified directly. Questions about anything on this page are welcome at safeguarding@qurania.io.
